ReplyDeleteHi and greetings from Finland! What a fantastic site you have created! I just found and bought the 2-part pilot episode on vhs and loved it. They never aired this show here back in the day so it was the first time i saw this amazing stuff. Now i really need to get that german dvd with all the episodes.
ReplyDeleteI´m going to e-mail the finnish vhs cover art soon so you can enjoy it (it was called I.Q. here). All the best!
Hi, you're the first I've heard from a fan from Finland, this is so cool to hear from all these 'Misfits' from around the world!
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much! I appreciate your comment and the cover too :D I'm glad you're getting a chance to enjoy the show.
Hi there writing in all the way from Malaysia, wow...MOS. I loved this show when I was a kid. They aired all the episodes in the 80's when I was a kid. I was very disappointed when the show was taken away and blamed the local TV stations for not continuing to air it. Only much later did I find out that it only lasted one season and I've actually seen all the episodes.
ReplyDeleteThey so need to release this on Bluray or at least in DVD!
Wow, so you got to see it in Malaysia in the eighties too, that's cool, I hadn't known that it aired there then. Was the audio in English, or was it dubbed/subbed?
ReplyDeletethanks for this site! i remember watching the show when i was a kid and thinking it was really awesome. HEROES is just a ripoff of this!
ReplyDeletemaybe post some episodes?
Haha, I like your comment, Anonymous. And you're welcome for the site :)
ReplyDeleteAbout posting the eps: I don't have any plans to, but if you check out our new forum, there's a thread there (under 'The Show' and then 'Where can I get a copy') with links concerning where to find/buy MoS on either DVD or Youtube. Hope that helps you.
I've been looking for this series for years! but I don't remember the name, so it was more difficult, I loved watching it as a child, and none of my friends also remembered the name (even some of them do not remember the serie) ... and last night finally! I found it! and saw this blog. i'll makes a link to my facebook ...
ReplyDeleteHey, that's cool, Valito. I'm glad you finally found out what it was - enjoy the site! And thank you for the link :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulation for the site.
ReplyDelete~ A Misfit at spirit

I love this show when I was in my teens. I watched the shows on betamax tapes recorded from the U.S. here in the Philippines. My favorite was Johnny B. I even wrote him a fan letter and he sent me back a signed photo of him. I remember wearing hi-cut, white basketball shoes everywhere I go mimicking his shoes on the show. Feels good to remember those days.
ReplyDeleteOh man, Betamax! So early 80's!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I too wore white sneaks exclusively after watching it - I HAD to have Johnny B shoes, I couldn't stand it otherwise. :D
That's so cool that you got to do a fan letter and get a return on it, Bennet.

Hi, I'm from Malaysia too. Yes, I watched MoS since I was a kid. FYI, the audio is in English!
ReplyDeleteHi, Swee Huat. You're like the third or fourth Malaysian MoS fan I've heard from so far. It's cool to know it was so popular there :D And thanks for answering my audio question.
ReplyDelete--ThirdBass
Excellent blog ! merci de nous faire revivre cette excellente serie ! Pourriez vous me dire si une sortie dvd est prevue ?
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Anonymous. De rien!
ReplyDeleteYour question translated to 'exit DVD' in Babelfish, so I'm not entirely certain what it is you're asking, but the only DVD release so far is this one: http://www.amazon.de/Die-Spezialisten-unterwegs-5-DVDs/dp/B000YROE06
(it has the original English audio as an alternate track)
So cool to hear from one of MoS's French fans, merci for coming by :)

ReplyDeleteI'm crying with nostalgia...not joking.
Greetings and salutations from Germany,

Welcome, CoffeeFiend. Have a fun trip through nostalgia! It's so heartening to know fans love this show (and by extension, my fansite) so much still :)

I am from Malaysia..I watched this show in 1986..on TV3..I was 10 years old that time.It was subtitled Malay. It was a great show.So nostalgic.I feel like i'm crying now
ReplyDeleteHi, johnjanski! Welcome to the fold :)
ReplyDeleteI like hearing all the different fans' experiences of watching Misfits of Science. I loved the show since first seeing it in reruns back in 1992 on the Sci-Fi channel. I was 11 years old at the time and I fell in love instantly! I agree with you totally - thinking back on this show can easily bring tears to my eyes.
Do you have a favorite superpower or episode? (my answers would be: Johnny B's electrical manipulation, and "Sort of Looking for Gina")
ThirdBass
My all time favorite show, and my favorite actor Mark Thomas Miller as "Johnny B". I really wish the show could come back...
ReplyDeleteGreat website! Misfits was my favorite show when I was 11-12 years old. I used to go to school Monday morning and talk to a couple other boys about the Misfits episode that aired on the previous Friday night. I had a huge crush on Courteney Cox--years before evryone knew her for Friends. I was shocked by the early deaths of Dean Paul and Kevin. Anyway, it was a great show that was WAY ahead of it's time. Thank you for the website!
ReplyDeleteIncredible site for an awesome show! :D Johnny B is still one of my fave superheroes!
ReplyDeleteWish I could remember the heyday, (tho I'll never forget the name-drop on Night Court!) but I do remember rushing home from school to catch it on the Series Collection on SciFi. This show so needs to come back to the airwaves.
It's so good to see it getting some love after all these years. Keep it up! :)
best show ever. let's get a north american re-release !!!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be awesome!
DeleteWelcome, walkinvisible! I totally agree, best show!
Hello! Could I find all episodes on DVD format with english and spanish audio and subtitles?
ReplyDeleteHi, Mariano. Sorry, I don't know of any. But if I come across it, I'll let you know!
Deletehi
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteLooks like I might be late to the party, but I am currently working on a fan restoration of the pilot episode. I have all of the frames and audio dumped from from the German DVD and am in the process of up-scaling to 720p25 and doing color and white balance correction. The first half of the episode is in a state that I think is ready to be reviewed and is available at the link below. Comments and suggestions are welcome. Just remember the quality of the sources available are not the best, that I am just a fan and hobbyist, and I am using mainly free and open source software.

Hey, the sun never sets on the Misfits of Science party! Fans are always welcome!
DeleteThat's an awful lot of dedication, thanks for sharing! :)
Thanks for the welcome. The work is going by quicker than I thought it would. I'm using Topaz Gigapixel for the up-sampling, GIMP for the cleanup, and VirtualDub2 with various filters for the color correction, white balancing, and MUXing. I'm posting updates on Reddit and on YouTube for anyone interested in giving me feedback.

Well, I'm closing in on the finish line. I have about 13,000 frames left to upscale. I am still scanning through the frames and repairing the worst of them. I ran the audio through a noise filter and hopefully it's a little better.
DeleteAwesome! Where will it be available to see, YouTube?
DeleteI will be releasing it to YouTube and on my Google Drive (for ease of downloading).
DeleteTimestamp: 1:48pm, 5/5/2020
ReplyDeleteFull pilot episode upload to YouTube started. Video should be available by 3:00pm 5/5/2020. Thank you for your patience, and to the community, please let me know what you think. I want to make this project better. Comment here or on YouTube.

ReplyDeleteMoS 0.9.1. Fixed the audio sync issue introduced with last release. The release should also be at 720p25 on YouTube.

ReplyDeleteDirect Download MoS (up scaled & color corrected) - file is roughly 2Gb
Just out of curiosity, has any one had a chance to evaluate the MoS pilot? I would really like to get some feedback so I can improve the video.
ReplyDeleteThis screened on new zealand television waaaay back in 1988,I used to watch it every friday night when it was on.It was a very unique show for the time.
ReplyDeleteHi Tim! That's cool :) Thanks for the comment!
DeleteI have just started working on episode two. I have dumped the frames and audio and have about 5 minutes up-scaled so far. My goal is to have all of the episodes up-scaled and color corrected by years end. Once all of the episodes are completed I am going to try to release them on a torrent sight and on YouTube.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Sorry I haven't had the chance to interact with your upscales yet but I think it's cool you're doing them! Have you considered joining a Misfits of Science Facebook group to share about your project? https://www.facebook.com/groups/267398556739404/
